Problem:

When I create an all-day event in iCal it shows as "busy" (via an Exchange client) and everyone sees my time as not available for the entire day.

Is there a way to indicate, directly in iCal, the all-day event time as "free" or "out of office" or "tentative", as there is in Exchange?

Solution:

You can append a property—e.g., (free)—to the title of the event.

Properties that can be appended to the title of an event are:

nothing appended = busy time event
(free) = free time event
(tentative) = tentative event
(ooo) or (out of office) = out of office time event
