Groupcal Version History

Groupcal 3.86 2007-03-14-1 released on 2007-03-15

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

The OS X 10.4.9 upgrade can also replace the iCal Mail.scpt file that's installed by Groupcal (because it's different and older than the timestamp on that file in the 10.4.9 installer).

Groupcal detects the Mail.scpt file replacement and provides a warning and instructions to reinstall. Since dealing with the OS X 10.4.9 update's Sync Services issues requires a reinstall, the iCal Mail.scpt issue is also taken care of at the same time.

Recent versions of Groupcal are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.85 2007-03-13-1 released on 2007-03-14

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • added the ability to temporarily disable automatic syncs/checking at the next available opportunity for a preference-defined time duration (e.g., for when your laptop is syncing multiple calendars and you want it to safely stop at the earliest possible opportunity ... so you can "go") [multiple beta testers really liked this one!]

  • added a warning and workaround message for unsupported PAC-file proxies

  • added support for a custom-configured Groupcal-only proxy setting (contact us if required)

  • improved multi-timezone handling of all-day events (Exchange and iCal use different models for all-day events and Exchange items across timezones can differ when created via Outlook versus Outlook Web Access/OWA)

  • fixed a problem with the mapping of the Berlin timezone

  • fixed some cosmetic issues

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.80 2007-02-23-2 released on 2007-02-27

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • added capturing files attached to Exchange items (1-way sync, only): Any item that has a file attachment in Exchange will show a URL in iCal's information panel. That URL will open a folder containing the file attachment(s).

Newer/different versions of attachments will not overwrite existing versions(s) captured on the Mac and attachments will not be deleted on the Mac when the calendar item is deleted in iCal.

Note: Files are not sync'd back to Exchange and, as has been true for all versions of Groupcal, if a sync'd item has a file attachment in Exchange and that item is changed iCal then sync'd back to Exchange, the item will be sent back to Exchange without the file attachment(s) and the file attachment(s) in Exchange will disappear.

  • improved the behavior of the invitation panel to make it less intrusive

  • added a warning to turn off iCal syncing in Entourage if it's installed

  • added some detection and instructions that will help when a server's login setup has been changed

  • fixed a bug where, in certain cases, the organizer/invite status of an event could be lost when syncing from iCal to Exchange

  • changed syncing to create start/stop dates the way OWA/Outlook GUIs behave because Exchange and ActiveSync get confused when there's a start date but no due date (which is normal for iCal)

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.78 2007-01-16-1 released on 2007-01-16

We strongly recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed a problem that could be encountered when syncing a large number of task entries

  • fixed a problem that could duplicate items that originated outside of iCal or Exchange (e.g., in a Blackberry)

  • added a new/missing timezone entry

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users ... well, except for the small percentage affected by the problems in 3.76/3.77.    #:–}

Groupcal 3.77 2007-01-11-1 released on 2007-01-11

This release was required to fix a build error in 3.76 that caused the Menu Extra to stop working. We apologize for this error.
#:–}    [That's a red-face, somewhat sheepish grin]

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed a problem that prevented the Menu Extra from working

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.76 2007-01-10-1 released on 2007-01-11

The primary focus of this release was to eliminate a performance issue (involving a single Groupcal data structure) that became pronounced when Groupcal was syncing calendars containing multiple thousands of items.

Groupcal and other programs that sync with iCal are required to use OS X's Sync Services. Note that Sync Services requires significant resources when calendars contain multiple thousands of items. Performance on older/slower systems can be noticeably affected by Sync Services' processing. Syncing performance is also dependent upon the performance of the communications with, and processing speed of, the Exchange server.

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • improved syncing performance — especially noticeable when syncing calendars containing multiple thousands of items

  • fixed a problem that could be encountered when Exchange provided Groupcal with invalid dates

  • fixed a problem where the attendee status was not being updated in a particular usage scenario

  • added a missing/new timezone mapping

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.75 2006-12-19-1 released on 2006-12-19

The primary focus of this release was to fix various issues that could be encountered when using recurring/detached events.

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed multiple issues that could be encountered when using recurring/detached events

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal could get an error processing a task with a remaining alarm if the task had had its due date unset

  • fixed a problem where some character accents were lost when sending accepted meeting requests to Exchange

  • fixed a problem where mixed-case email addresses in Exchange-originated invitations might not be recognized in Address Book's "My Card" entry

  • added a missing/new timezone mapping

  • removed the advanced setup option "Ignore items from other iCal calendars" as it is no longer required (obsoleted by improvements in Groupcal 3.70)

  • added some minor user-interface improvements/clarifications

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.70 2006-11-17-1 released on 2006-11-21

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed a problem where renaming and/or deleting iCal calendars could cause "orphaned" items in Exchange that would no longer sync to iCal

  • fixed a problem where a date deleted from a task in iCal could re-appear after successive syncs

  • fixed a problem where events with invitations could move from one iCal calendar to another

  • added detection and a warning about missing Exchange email addresses that are required to be in the user's Address Book "My Card"

  • fixed some problems with and modernized the AppleScript support

  • added some user interface improvements

  • added additional logging capabilities for troubleshooting support

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.62 2006-10-02-1 released on 2006-10-03

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users, especially laptop users, update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • added some new sections to the "Read Before You Install" document

  • for each calendar, added a most-recent sync-status icon and the date/time of the most-recent successful sync to the sync menus (in both Groupcal and the status "menu extra")

  • changed the behavior to show networking errors only via the Groupcal program (i.e., not the Groupcal Daemon) — in real time if the Groupcal program is running or when the Groupcal program is next run if it wasn't running when the error occurred

  • added preferences to set the timeout for both the initial networking connection and for subsequent communications

  • changed the behavior to avoid trying to sync if the Exchange server is not reachable (e.g., network connection is not available, route is not available, etc.)

  • for Free/Busy iCal calendars, added the title "Combined Resources" when the "Everyone combined" option is set and there is more than one email address (resource) being checked

  • fixed a problem that caused some international characters to be shown incorrectly

  • fixed a cosmetic problem with the display of "People or Resources in Exchange:" in the Free/Busy panel

  • fixed a problem where an incorrect message indicating a login failure was given if the Exchange server was unavailable

  • fixed a problem that caused syncing to cease if Groupcal received corrupted alarm data

  • added the ability to specify a custom FBA login URL (required for some customized Exchange server logins — should only be used at Snerdware's direction)

  • multiple minor user interface improvements

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.54 2006-08-22-1 released on 2006-08-22

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed a problem where an invite would not be handled

  • fixed a problem that could prevent authentication in certain instances

  • fixed a problem where "[...]" in a message description could cause a sync failure

  • shortened the time for connection timeouts to 15 seconds

  • fixed a problem where setting an advanced option to a URL containing a parameter would not work

  • added a missing/new timezone mapping

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Groupcal 3.53 2006-07-24-1 released on 2006-07-24

We recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • fixed a problem where enabling "Don't sync iCal-set alarms to Exchange" could cause alarms on new iCal events to be removed

  • fixed a problem where operating in Trial mode could cause certain events to be deleted

  • fixed a problem where the organizer e-mail address could be wrong when using iCal to send an invite to Exchange via Groupcal

  • added a new option "Don't sync Exchange-set alarms to iCal"

  • clarified the user interface on the Free/Busy setup panel

  • added some performance improvements

  • added the ability to recognize an alternate logon form that sometimes is presented by Exchange

  • added some additional logging capabilities for troubleshooting

Recent versions are working very smoothly for virtually all users.

Comment: Groupcal 3.51 is a milestone release—it's the first release made by the "March 10th takeover development team" that addressed all the known issues at that point and included the enhancements that Development felt were crucial to having a stable product. Furthermore, over 500 Groupcal licensing transactions had occurred at the time of this comment and no significant new issues had been reported.

Groupcal 3.51 2006-07-07-1 released on 2006-07-07

If you experience syncs that seem to proceed OK but don't complete (because Sync Services times out), you should update to this version. This is likely only an issue if you have many hundreds of items during an initial syncing or hundreds of changes during a subsequent sync for a given calendar.

There is only one change in this release:

  • changed syncing to occur in small groups to work around the fact that Sync Services times out during lengthy syncs

Groupcal 3.50 2006-06-29-1 released on 2006-07-01

We strongly recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

Changes in this release:

  • added the ability to limit Groupcal's syncing to one direction

  • fixed a problem where setting the advanced options to ignore events (tasks) older than (completed) some number of days (ago) could cause items that appeared before the ignored period to be removed from iCal (but it then restored from Exchange when the ignored period was changed)

  • fixed a problem with Groupcal Daemon quitting and the warning message

  • fixed a problem where installed files could have incorrect permissions

  • various cosmetic changes

The latest versions are working very smoothly for the vast majority of users.

If you're having problems, please follow the instructions in the "Read Before You Install" document (and apply the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?). These will lead you through a comprehensive process that solves most people's issues and will guide you through capturing some information to send to us if that's not the case.

Groupcal 3.41 2006-06-22-2 released on 2006-06-23

Note: the new support for "fast user switching" requires that Free/Busy calendars be re-created in iCal (delete the current Free/Busy calendar in iCal and, after installing 3.41, select the "Create current calendar in iCal..." pop-up menu for the "Free/Busy calendar:").

We strongly recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

  • added support for OS X's "faster user switching" so Groupcal can now be used by multiple users on a given system (requires that your Free/Busy calendars, in iCal only, be re-created)

  • fixed a problem where an invite reply dialog would be missing a button

  • made the size/position of the window used for receiving invitations remembered

  • added warning messages to indicate that Free/Busy refreshing and invitation auto-checking will not occur when the preference is set to quit the Groupcal Daemon

  • improved customized Exchange-server login support

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal's status menu would not load if the Groupcal folder name contained certain characters

  • updated installer messages and the Read Before You Install document

  • added Groupcal's Mail.applescript to the Groupcal bundle so developers/tinkerers can see the source (i.e., changes Groupcal makes to iCal's Mail.scpt)

Note: The following areas have not yet had a complete "going over" by the "take-over" development team:

  • recurring events with detached events (some issues already addressed)
  • syncing via .Mac

The latest versions are working very smoothly for the vast majority of users.

If you're having problems, please follow the instructions in the "Read Before You Install" document (and apply the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?). • added some additional logging/troubleshooting capabilities that should help diagnose an obscure problem case

  • improved Groupcal's messages when an iCal Mail.scpt change is detected

  • added/improved some informative messages in the uninstaller application

Note: The following areas have not yet had a complete "going over" by the "take-over" development team:

  • recurring events with detached events (some issues already addressed)
  • syncing via .Mac

The latest versions are working very smoothly for the vast majority of users.

If you're having problems, please follow the instructions in the "Read Before You Install" document (and apply the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?). Groupcal 3.34 2006-06-07-1 released on 2006-06-07

This release is primarily to fix a problem that got past us in version 3.33. We apologize for that error which caused some systems to lose the ability to sync.

We strongly recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

  • fixed a problem added in 3.33 that would cause Groupcal to be unable to sync on various systems (the console log will contain a message containing the text "mutable")

  • fixed a problem that could cause intermittent crashing of the Groupcal Daemon

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal could get into a state where it wouldn't read the current iCal calendars

  • fixed a problem where pressing the +/- buttons multiple times to add/remove iCal calendars could cause Groupcal to crash

  • fixed a problem where events/tasks moved from one calendar to another were not being handled correctly

  • fixed a problem where responding to an iCal invitation could cause the invitation not to be handled correctly and possibly cause the Groupcal Daemon to crash

  • added 2 missing/new timezone mappings

Note: The following areas have not yet had a complete "going over" by the "take-over" development team:

  • invitations : the primary focus for the next release (some issues already addressed)
  • recurring events with detached events (some issues already addressed)
  • syncing via .Mac

With the exception of problems in the areas we've not yet "cleansed," we've seen the latest versions working well for the vast majority of users.

Groupcal 3.33 2006-05-31-1 released on 2006-06-03

We strongly recommend that all Groupcal 3 users update to this version:

There are some significant improvements in this release (in no particular order):

  • changes to make Groupcal smarter about it's use of iCal's Mail.scpt

  • added the ability to choose Groupcal's install location

  • added code to prevent multiple concurrent-running syncs

  • fixed a problem with 'individual' on iCal versus 'requiredparticipant' on Groupcal

  • fixed problem where optional attendees could become required attendees

  • added a preference to allow the Groupcal Daemon to be quit when Groupcal is quit (the Groupcal Daemon is not required if automatic synchronization is not enabled)

  • fixed an error in timezone mapping for (GMT+01.00) Paris/Madrid/Brussels/Copenhagen (was causing a 1-hour time shift in some cases)

  • fixed a significant memory leak (a small one still needs to be addressed)

  • fixed a login problem

  • fixed a problem with the synchronization status menu item and some Intel-powered Macs (see the "Read Before You Install" document) ... and contributed the work to the open source MenuCracker project

  • fixed a problem that could cause the Groupcal Daemon to crash

  • improved the account setup error-detection capabilities

Note: The following areas have not yet had a complete "going over" by the "take-over" development team:

  • invitations : this will be next (some issues already addressed)
  • recurring events with detached events
  • syncing via .Mac

With the exception of problems in the areas we've not yet "cleansed," we've seen the latest versions working well for the vast majority of users.

If you're having problems, please follow the instructions in the "Read Before You Install" document (and apply the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?). Groupcal 3.30 2006-05-10-1 released on 2006-05-10

Although the primary focus for this release was to rework the alarms processing, in working some outstanding syncing issues, we discovered that it's not uncommon for OS X's Sync Services data to become corrupted and for that to result in varied, and sometimes serious, problems. The "Solving Problems" Knowledgebase articles now embody detecting and fixing a corrupted Sync Services.

There are some significant improvements in this release:

  • significant work on alarms : fixed multiple problems and enhanced handling of alarms (see the "Things you should know about alarms" Knowledgebase article)

  • fixed an obscure problem that could cause all entries in a calendar to be deleted

  • added the ability to properly survive an iSync "Reset Sync History" operation

  • added some defensive code to help prevent problems when OS X's Sync Services data becomes corrupted (which we now realize has been responsible for many stubborn, and sometimes severe, problem cases)

  • user interface changes : renamed many options to be more self-explanatory (see "Setting Up Groupcal" Knowledgebase articles) and various cosmetic fixes

  • fixed a problem with Attendee processing

  • changed the installer so the Groupcal Daemon is not started until you run Groupcal, even when updating (helps prevent problems if OS X's Sync Services is corrupted)

  • changed to default in the installer to not remove setup preferences

  • reinstated the "Groupcal -> Check for Update" menu capability

Note: The following areas have not yet had a "going over" by the new development team (but we're actually starting to get to these!):

  • invitations : this will likely be next
  • recurring events with detached events
  • syncing via .Mac
  • menu-bar item : currently not working for everyone, but works for some

With the exception of problems in the areas we've not yet "cleansed," we've seen the latest versions working well for the vast majority of users.

If you're having problems, please follow the instructions in the "Read Before You Install" document (and apply the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?). These will lead you through a comprehensive process that solves most people's issues and will guide you through capturing some information to send to us if that's not the case.

Groupcal 3.23 2006-04-28-1 released on 2006-05-01

For a limited number of customers who were suffering from some specific problems, version 3.23 will bring major improvements and for others, there are less dramatic improvements:

  • fixed a problem where the Groupcal Uninstaller was not always removing all files (Administrator privileges are now required) ... this was preventing some people from enjoying the benefits of the past few releases!   #:-(

  • fixed problems where certain special characters (e.g., newlines, semi-colons, and back slashes) were not being processed properly and causing various problems ranging from display issues to "transformed" information

  • fixed a problem where the installer was changing permissions and causing Disk Utility's "Repair Disk Permissions" to repair the permissions on "/Applications/iCal.app/Contents/Resources/Mail.scpt"

  • made various changes to help protect against deleted calendars

  • fixed the inability to connect to an Exchange server when the password contained an ampersand (&) character

  • eliminated the need to quit and re-start Groupcal after licensing

  • fixed a problem where the "must Allow Groupcal to sync with iCal" message could be presented twice

  • changed the installed permissions settings on certain Groupcal files so they're no longer open to "any user" tampering ... only Admin users can tamper   #;-)

  • minor user-interface improvements (more significant ones, soon) ... note the new Knowledgebase articles on Groupcal usage!

Note: The following areas have not yet had a "going over" by the new development team (but we're actually starting to get to these!):

  • alarms (first-pass re-work will be in the next release)
  • invitations : this area appears to need the most work
  • recurring events with detached events
  • syncing via .Mac
  • menu-bar item : currently this is only partly working
  • user interface and corresponding help (for now, see the Knowledgebase articles at www.snerdware.com/support/)

With the exception of problems in the areas we've not yet "cleansed," we expect that this version will work quite well for the majority of users. If you've carefully followed the "Read Before You Install" document (and applied the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?) and you're still having problems, please let us know by opening a support Ticket via www.snerdware.com/support/.

Groupcal 3.20 (2006-04-21-2) released on 2006-04-21

Aside from moving Groupcal (and LicenseControl) to be Universal Binary, this session threw some tough problems at us—problems that would have taken many times longer to replicate and troubleshoot had it not been for a "band of customers" who've been immensely helpful during this process. We want to express a sincere and heartfelt "Thank You!" to those individuals (you know who you are).

Again, there are significant changes in version 3.20 that should help in numerous situations:

  • fixed a(nother) bug that would cause synchronizations to stall

  • added an unknown time zone so it'll be processed correctly

  • fixed a problem where data containing comma's was not being handled correctly

  • fixed a situation where having a problem while syncing could lose a calendar

  • fixed a problem where re-reading calendars would cause Groupcal to hang

  • fixed some issues with basic recurring events (but those with with detached events still have problems)

  • added some defensive checks to prevent problems when encountering ill-formed data

  • fixed an obscure user interface problem

  • clarified the status message for a login failure when Exchange expires the login cookie

  • updated the references for Snerdware support

  • added a "once per version" warning about making an iCal backup

  • Groupcal is now delivered as a Universal Binary

Note: The following areas have not yet had a "going over" by the new development team (but we're not stopping!):

  • invitations : this area appears to need the most work
  • recurring events with detached events
  • alarms
  • syncing via .Mac
  • user interface and corresponding help (for now, see the Knowledgebase articles at www.snerdware.com/support/)

With the exception of problems in the areas we've not yet "cleansed," we expect that version 3.20 will work quite well for the majority of users. If you've carefully followed the "Read Before You Install" document (and applied the Knowledgebase article I've installed a Groupcal 3 update and I am still having problems ... what now?) and you're still having problems, please let us know by opening a support Ticket via www.snerdware.com/support/.

Groupcal 3.15 (2006-04-06-1) released on 2006-04-06

There are significant changes in version 3.15 that should help in numerous situations:

  • fixed a problem where Exchange events, once sync'd to iCal, would loose their busy status and private attribute—events will now have the private attribute/busy status as a prefix/suffix (respectively) to the event summary in iCal (as was done in Groupcal 2)

  • the full task status from Exchange is now being maintained, although iCal will only show the "Completed" status and only allows the status on a task to be set to "Completed" or "not"; i.e., the checkbox was checked or unchecked (however, the statuses not shown by iCal are defined in the specification so, presumably, will be shown in iCal at some point)

  • extended Groupcal's state-management model to fix a problem where Groupcal's sync services registry could get out of sync with sync services ... this should prevent duplicate records and data loss in certain cases where preference files are deleted or corrupted (although this may cause some deleted records to reappear, this is much preferred over data loss)

  • fixed problems causing categories to be lost in the "round trip" of an event/task from Exchange->iCal->Exchange

  • fixed problems that prevented the Event/Task summary prefix/suffixes for Exchange info from working in Groupcal 3

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal's main window wasn't remembering its position

Groupcal 3.10 (2006-03-31-1) released on 2006-03-31

There are significant changes in version 3.10 that should help in numerous situations:

  • fixed a problem where deleting a calendar in Groupcal was not deleting that calendar in iCal

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal reported an iCal calendar that did not exist in iCal and sometimes that non-existent calendar entry could not be deleted from Groupcal

  • fixed a problem that would erroneously cause conflicts to be reported when syncing

  • fixed a problem where the use of certain "unusual" time zones (e.g., America/Vancouver for Vancouver, BC, Canada ... as opposed to US/Pacific for Seattle, WA, USA) would prevent entries created in iCal from being sync'd to Exchange (this likely also caused various other time-zone related problems)

  • significantly revamped the handling of all-day events (see documentation on all-day events)

  • fixed problems where Groupcal's registration with OS X's sync services was, itself, getting out of sync and causing multiple issues

  • updated the Groupcal Uninstaller to optionally allow Groupcal to be "un-registered" with OS X's sync services ... this solves many problems where calendars are not recognized and it might be necessary for some setups to be completely uninstalled and reinstalled

  • fixed a problem where adding a calendar in Groupcal would fail to update Groupcal's "Synchronize" menu and cause the short-cut keys to fail until the menu was selected/reloaded

  • fixed a problem where Groupcal was converting all dates to UTC/GMT and causing information loss in certain scenarios (this was also affecting calendar publishing)

  • added an advisory dialog to help people understand that Groupcal needs to be allowed to sync with iCal whenever OS X's sync services presents such a request

  • fixed some problems where Groupcal would show duplicate calendars for some (or all) calendars in iCal

  • updated the "Read Before You Install" document [Groupcal 3.10 (2006-03-30-1) released on 2006-03-30 differed only by having an earlier version of this document that wasn't clear enough in certain areas]

Things you should know about all-day events (Groupcal 3.10 and later)

There are 3 different approaches used to present all-day events; one when using Outlook client with Exchange Server, one when using Outlook Web Access with Exchange Server and one when using iCal—and they vary slightly, especially when the event is originated in one time zone and viewed in another time zone.

When using Groupcal, all-day events are presented in a way that's consistent with iCal but still retains accurate Exchange Server information.

An all-day event will be shown in iCal on the date the event starts in iCal's (i.e., the viewing system's) local time. For example, an all-day event that was created in Outlook and starts on January 1 (regardless of the time zone in which it was created) will be an all-day event shown on January 1 in iCal (regardless of the iCal system's time zone).

An all-day event will remain in the time zone in which it was defined (i.e., when sync'd) only as long as neither the start nor the end time is changed in iCal.

When the start and/or end times on an all-day event are changed in iCal, the event will be changed into the iCal system's local time zone and will be from midnight to midnight. This new/local iCal-set time will be used when next syncing to Exchange1. Moving an all-day event in iCal (i.e., dragging it to a different location) immediately has the same effect (i.e., the start and end times are changed).

1An all-day event created in iCal will use the iCal system's time zone that's set at the point of the first sync operation which includes that all-day event.

Groupcal 3.01 (2006-03-16-1) released on 2006-03-17

Changes in version 3.01:

  • fixed a significant problem where "Tasks" in Exchange (i.e., iCal "To-Do items") were not being sync'd from Exchange into iCal

  • added command-key bindings to the Synchronize menu entries

  • added some instrumentation that can be used to help troubleshoot difficult/involved scenarios (support will provide instructions for use, when appropriate)

  • updated the "Check for Update" mechanisms so they work for version 3 series

  • added an installer check to ensure that version 3 can only be installed in OS X 10.4.0 and newer

  • verified to run on Intel Macs under Rosetta

Open issues in version 3.01 (incomplete and in no particular order):

  • sometimes synchronization "stalls" (sometimes reporting a processing error in the logs) — if you are experiencing this issue, it might help us if you could capture some information for us ... please contact [email protected] for instructions

  • sometimes events in public calendar don't sync to iCal

  • sometimes items are reported in the wrong time zone (e.g., GMT)

  • sometimes calendars in iCal are ignored

  • sometimes Groupcal crashes at startup

  • sometimes deleting a calendar in Groupcal does not delete it from iCal

  • sometimes all-day events created in Exchange don't remain all-day events when edited in iCal and are sync'd back to Exchange

  • creating an event with a start and end time in iCal sometimes is not sync'd to Exchange

  • the Groupcal main window position is not remembered
These issues (and others) are actively being worked and releases will occur as significant progress has been made.
